Day 38 – Classmates & Blankets

  • Posted on November 27, 2012 at 10:02 pm

Today I am thankful for classmates and friends who have gone before me – who speak up in order to make classes better – who bought the books and are happily willing to loan them to me for a semester. (And I will (and have) happily return the favor!)

I’m also thankful for warm blankets and a snug house to warm me up when I am cold as the weather drops outside.

Day 37 – Alpha, Chocolate and Cat Hats

  • Posted on November 26, 2012 at 11:08 pm

Today I’m thankful for the opportunity to help lead Alpha again with an amazing group of people.

I’m also thankful for chocolate, and the family who loves me so much they go out of their way to make sure we have some in the house at all times.

Also thankful for cat hats. Warm, fuzzy and happy. Tonight’s included a chin strap/paw.

Day 36 – My Children and My Bed

  • Posted on November 25, 2012 at 10:09 pm

Today I am thankful for my children. Though the drive me crazy often, they are sweet and awesome too. They spent most of today playing very well together, and being generally awesome. It is amazing to watch them grow and learn. I am excited to see who they grow into in the coming years.

I’m also thankful for a good night’s sleep in my own bed. That’s one of the best parts of travel… coming home and realizing how much I appreciate things here, like my own bed.

Days 32-35 – Thanksgiving and then some

  • Posted on November 24, 2012 at 10:40 pm

The last four days have been spent traveling. Didn’t bring the computer, so no updates, but I was very thankful!

Day 32- Thankful for safe travels, and awesome neighbors who will care for our cats for us while we are gone.

Day 33- Thankful for family, lots of family, and for getting to see them all and hang out with them most of the day. And for lots of yummy food.

Day 34- Thankful for meeting up with an old friend I hadn’t seen in far too long, and for a fun day at the museum with my family.

Day 35- Thankful for safe travels home, for friends along the way who let us rest a bit and feed us yummy food and let our kids run around wild for a bit before piling into the car yet again. Later on, I will be very thankful for my own bed.

Day 31 – To-Do Lists and Baths

  • Posted on November 20, 2012 at 9:58 pm

Today I’m thankful for crossing things off my to-do list. That gives me such a happy feeling of accomplishment when I have a day where I can cross off several items. I’ll admit, I sometimes put things on my to-do list that I KNOW will happen, like “brush teeth” just to have something to cross off!

I’m also thankful for baths, and the huge amount of happiness they can give my children… while giving me a good half hour of mostly peace and quiet. Hey, a mom uses whatever tricks work!

Day 30 – Pizza and Meeting Deadlines

  • Posted on November 19, 2012 at 10:15 pm

Today I am thankful for finishing things on time and getting them turned in. What a huge weight off my shoulders!

I’m also thankful for pizza. Yummy, nummy happy food.

Also thankful for cookies from friends. 🙂

Days 27, 28 & 29 – Music, Birthday Parties, Sleeping in & more

  • Posted on November 18, 2012 at 11:29 am

Oops, three days! Here goes.

Friday I was thankful for the amazing children’s music program our church has. I’m thankful for the staff and volunteers who work hard to help our children learn music, and have fun doing it.

Yesterday I was thankful for birthday parties and the friends we share them with. I was also thankful for babysitters. Also thankful for good friends who ask if one of my children can spend the night, even if it is sort of last minute. And I’m thankful to know my daughter will be in good hands at her friends house.

Today I’m thankful for quiet houses and sleeping in. I’m thankful that my family can all pitch in together to get something done quickly, like cleaning up a messy room, when we want to, and do it nicely together.

Day 26 – Awesome Professors & Old Friends

  • Posted on November 15, 2012 at 10:31 pm

I am thankful today for professors who assign projects that have actual real-world application instead of just having us write papers for my classes. I’m doubly thankful to have several of these projects at hand at a time when I really need them so that I don’t have to spend many hours now creating said projects that I have already spent time creating previously.

I’m also thankful for medical providers that I’ve known for a long time, and who make annual visits actually enjoyable – more like seeing an old friend rather than a dreaded doctor visit.

Days 24 & 25 – Foods and Wisdom

  • Posted on November 14, 2012 at 9:59 pm

Yesterday I had at least three things I wanted to put here that I was thankful for, but then fell asleep before getting to my blog. I’ll try to remember what they were…

Yesterday I was thankful for almond milk hot chocolate. Creamy tasty chocolatey goodness that doesn’t leave me with a tummy ache makes me very happy!

I was also thankful for yummy mexican food, especially when it was free-to-me.

Also thankful for getting to know an acquaintance better, and for our great dinnertime chat, and for her willingness to answer some of my questions openly and honestly.

Whew, there it was!

Today I am thankful for being able to be part of making processes better for myself and others. I’m thankful for the wise people who taught me long ago that you don’t just complain about something, you can only complain when you also propose a solution (or two). I’m thankful for knowing that when unhappy with something, while standing up and shouting about it would feel good, it isn’t productive, and staying calm and using reason is far more effective. I’m thankful for knowing this, and for being able to implement it and stay calm in the face of heated angry discussions.

Day 23 – Husband and Pie

  • Posted on November 12, 2012 at 10:48 pm

Today I am thankful for my favorite veteran – my husband. In so many ways, I am very very thankful for him.

I’m also thankful that he shared his free veteran’s day pie with me today.
